Board of Ordained Ministry 2008 Goals

-Training and monitoring of mentors for persons in the process towards ordination.

-Support of persons attending licensing school in order to be a licensed Local Pastor.

-Monitoring and training of Candidacy Mentors.

-Monitoring and Training of Clergy Mentors.

-Recruitment of persons from approved seminaries.

-Evaluate and plan retreats for candidates seeking commissioning and ordination

-Evaluate and implement improvements in psychological testing process.

-Providing support systems for clergy through new pastor's orientation retreats,retirements seminars, and spiritual formation events.

-Support the work of the CARE team.

-Administer the clergy assistance fund.

-Provide a comprehensive program to support probationary members move towards effectiveness in ministry.

-Network with the NEJ Board of Ordained ministry, N.E. Jurisdiction  seminaries, and the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry to resource our work.

-Administration of all matters relating to the Conference relations of clergy.

-Promote clergy effectiveness through participation in the Discipline & Clergy Effectiveness workshop, Sexual Ethics training, and Nurturing Wholeness In Community workshop.

-Nurture a Culture of the Call.

-Provide scholarship support for persons seeking licensing as a local pastor through preparation for ordination.

-Use the physiological assessment tool to help pastors understand how the psychological profile affects their effectiveness in ministry.

-Work with the cabinet to define effectiveness and to give pastors tools to enhance their effectiveness.
