THANKSGIVING DEVOTIONAL LETTER
November 2009
To Our Beloved Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
Grace and peace to you in the Name of the One who calls us all the “Beloved.”
Every year we celebrate in abundance – turkey and all the trimmings, decadent slices of pumpkin pie, time spent with family and friends, fellowship, football, and thanks to the One who provides it all for us.
From the breath in our lungs to the beauty of the sunset, we have much to be thankful for. Honoring God with thanksgiving is something that takes more time and effort than one prayer at one meal, one day a year. Thanksgiving is a powerful act of sacrificial worship that should be apart of our daily lives. The Bible tells us that God’s will is for us to give thanks in every situation (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
Brothers and sisters, no matter what is going on in our lives, there are plenty of reasons to have a “thankful heart.” It is our prayer that this Thanksgiving Devotional is a meaningful instrument of praise and thanksgiving in your Christian journey.
We hope you enjoy the readings and ask that you share with others. On behalf, of the Board of Lay Ministries, we embrace you in Christ’s love. We pray for God’s continuing blessings for you and your family during the holiday season.
Grace & Peace,
Betty M. Gooch, Demetrio L. Beach,
Conference Lay Leader Associate Conference Lay Leader
“But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.
If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
Psalm 50:23, NLT
