ADVOCACY RESOURCE TEAM This team supports and cares for ministry functions such as Social Justice and Advocacy, Ecumenical and Interfaith Concerns, Monitoring for Inclusiveness, Combating of Racism, Sexism and other forms of Oppression, Ethnic Community Concerns and the providing of Diversity Training and Consultation. It also supports the District Lay Academies in teaching the United Methodist Church's Social Principles so that more pastors and laity understand what the UMC stands for and also what it is against.
The chairperson of this team is Rev. Tom A. Pasmore, Jr.
The Advocacy Resource Team relates to the following Boards and Commissions according to the Book of Discipline:

Church and Society Concerns
Ethnic Local Church Concerns
Pacem in Terris
Religion and Race Concerns
Status and Role of Women Concerns
ART will provide grass-roots community organization around social concerns that affect our communities within our annual conference. The methods will include town meetings, ethnic minority dialogue, intra-net communications, and racial hate crimes response teams. The team will also resource clergy and laity with training events and celebrative occasions to address racial and gender justice.
